MJ House, Amsterdam Vondelpark, 2017
In 1986 the house was renovated for the current residents by architect Manfred Kausen.
Now, 30 years later, it had to be made age-proof for the same residents
An elevator was installed to all five floors, right through the column where the toilets used to be - with adjustments on all floors, and to make the basement more accessible.
The basement was extended into the garden, becoming a fully-fledged workspace and possibly being used as an assisted living facility later on.
The garden, which was previously barely visible from the house and difficult to reach, was thus incorporated into the house.
On top of the extension, the terrace of the living floor was made longer and wider.
