Wim De Vos

Working as an independent interior architect 1986, registered in the Dutch Architects Register since 1989. Initially mainly shop interiors, later mainly private clients.
Independent work was always alternated with teaching positions in interior design at the art academies of Rotterdam and The Hague, at the Design Academy Eindhoven and at the University of Antwerp.

The designed spaces are clear and distinct, not generic but each with its own characteristics and atmosphere.

To describe the work, here are quotes from some jury reports:

Laureate Mart Stamprijs, city of Amsterdam

"A beautiful and extremely careful balance has been achieved between 'too much' and 'too little'.

The interior is sober and reserved without being boring, modest and subtle.

At a glance it is clear that the designer managed to shape a clear overall concept, based on a preference for openness, a high priority for daylight admission and a very relaxed manner, taking into account the wishes of the clients down to the smallest detail."

Laureate Bathroom Design Award

"The jury appreciates the innovative use of materials, as well as the careful detailing. The location and the modest character of the bathroom fit seamlessly into the interior.”

Nomination Lai Award 2008

“The renovated farm is a space with different atmospheres, so that one can stay there both alone and with a large group. The great attention to detail and color and the artisanal approach are the strong points of the project.

The design of the various spaces is effectively supported by almost invisible interventions that influence space and light, by refined use of materials and by choice and placement of furniture. The jury appreciates the way in which De Vos avoids the pitfalls of such a way of working."
